Monkey Card#62

DSCF2012

Those creative girls over at A La Card Monkey have challenged us with a red, white & blue theme and sketch, so I thought I’d participate!  Here’s the sketch….

Monkey62 Red White Blue-001

and here’s my card.  I chose to say “so long” to Define Your Life, pairing it with Have A Seat and the jumbo wheel Friendly Words:

I added a trimmed heart from I {Heart} Hearts, did some distressing, embellishing and embossing, and added a sweet sentiment inside:

Color Throwdown 148 & CCCB63

DSCF2004

I managed to carve out some time to play with my lovely Color Throwdown teammates!  Here’s Bar’s cool challenge:

swatch 148

I took the liberty of substituting SU’s new Calypso Coral for Cameo Coral because I was also using one of SU’s new hostess sets, Array of Sunshine:

CTD148 LeAnne

I have needed three sympathy cards in the past week!  I am not too sure about the empty white space on my panel; I feel like I need to fill it in, but it is in the mail, so it’s going to have to be okay.  I stamped the leafy image on my Garden Green panel before I embossed it with the Square Lattice embossing folder:

DSCF2005

The Pacific Point Corduroy Button (still available on the Clearance Rack!) was embellished with some pearls, as was my floral image:

DSCF2002

The layout is from this week’s City Crafter #63:

CCCB63

And I used a verse from Our Daily Bread Designs for the inside:

I hope you can play along with the other CTD designers…be sure to check out the blog and add your creation as well!  Here are their links if you’re in a hurry!:

ColourQ91 & Mojo197

CQC91 banner

Hey!  It’s Tuesday and that means ColourQ time!  Here’s Arielle’s sweet little inspiration for this week:

cqc91 I love it!  Nothing says summer like red, white & blue plaid!  I took a tiny liberty to use different shades of the challenge colors, but I think they’re close enough:

CQC91_LeAnne

I used the circular sketch from Mojo Monday 197:

Mojo197Sketch

to make this birthday card for my cousin, whose birthday just happens to be on July 4!  Here’s the inside:

DSCF0313

Instead of making my scallop card on the fold, I layered two scallops with a 2 7/8 x 2 1/2” card on the inside.  So that the card could be opened, I scored the top of the back scallop, which allows it to fold back when opening the card.

I hope you can find some inspiration from these colors and create something for the ColourQ this week!  Check out the CQC blog for all the other designers’ creations as well!  Thanks for visiting today!

CAS125, LIM Sketch 2

DSCF0280

Happy Monday!  After a very busy weekend, I am having trouble getting back into my stamping groove….so bear with me!  Today’s Christmas card uses the SCS CAS125 color challenge of Red, White and Black, and the sketch from Less is More:

LIM sketch 2

This card really doesn’t do much for me, but it is another one to add to my stash for December, so I guess that is a plus!  I think I should have added some glitter or something.  Anyway, here’s a little smile for you:

Hopefully when she’s able to REALLY use the vacuum, she’ll still be smiling!

Paper Players 53

DSCF0158

Happy Sunday!  I am glad to be back blogging and creating!  The Paper Players have a wonderful sketch for us today:

Challenge 53

and I must admit, I had a BLAST making this card!  I used the Color Throwdown colors for this week; here is the yummy inspiration photo from Design Seeds:

FreshBerry1

If you EVER need color inspiration, check out their blog….incredible!  Kristin chose the colors of Black, Sage Shadow, Cherry Cobbler and Blushing Bride, so I went through my DP stash and came up with this:

DSCF0159-1

I knew there was a raspberry image in the Botanical Gazette DP, so I punched that as my main image. I also pieced the text paper it was on, and used it as my background paper.   The other DPs were lightly stamped with various images from Nature Walk and French Foliage, stitched and daubered:

DSCF0157

I stamped the little bee on some vellum, shaded the back with More Mustard, then added some Jelly Roll sparkle:

DSCF0156

The sentiment is from You’re A Gem, which is a gem of a set! I hope you will play along with the Paper Players using this great sketch, and be sure to hover on over to their blog to see the other designers’ creations!

Wee Details:

  • Stamps:  Nature Walk, French Foliage, You’re A Gem
  • Paper:  Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler & Blushing Bride Patterns DP; Botanical Gazette DP; Wintergreen DP (ret); Vellum Cardstock
  • Ink:  Stazon Black, Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Sage Shadow, Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard

A Little Vaca

ColourQ 90 & Mojo 196

DSCF0151

It’s Tuesday and that means it’s ColourQ time!  Here is the fun color challenge Arielle has given us today:

cqc90

These colors could lend themselves to so many images---I hope you’ll take the challenge and put your spin on them.  I chose a little digital image from Arielle along with the Mojo Monday 196 sketch:

Mojo196

and here’s my card:

CQC90_LeAnne

For some reason, I really struggled with this card—it just didn’t come together as easily as I would have liked!  I did some paper piecing with Poppy Parade Patterns DP on the little quilt as well as the pincushion from SU’s Sew Suite set; some embossing and a punched border and I printed the sentiment teeny tiny so I could use the sentiment flag from Laura!  I think it bothers me that the pins cause my Brilliant Blue panel to pucker…..but, as my boss used to say, “It is what it is!”

Thanks for visiting today!  Any questions, give me a shout!

CAS x 3

DSCF0148

Today at SCS, the CAS challenge is to make tall, thin cards!  No problem! I managed to eke out three of them this morning while the baby was napping:

DSCF0147

This is for a couple from our church who just had a baby!  Both the gingham and image are Cornish Heritage Farms.

DSCF0141

Here’s a fun CAS card using the new Snow Much Fun set from SU!  Mr. Snowman is stamped on textured WW and colored with blender pens and reinkers. Isn’t that Lucky Limeade scarf cute?  He’s got a liberal sprinkling of snow in the form of Dazzling Diamonds as well:

DSCF0142

And finally, a cute smaller thank you using some Technique Tuesdays and MFT stamps:

DSCF0143

I wish my blues had matched a little better….this one was colored with Copics, not too much shading as it is one layer and I didn’t want it to bleed too much on the other side!

We had a busy weekend; one event we attended was my niece’s graduation party.  Did I get any photos of my niece???? NOT ONE….where was my brain?  Did get a couple photos of family members and the baby, along with my SIL’s unbelievable backyard garden.  They live in Philadelphia, and we are country folk….so just driving to the city made me nervous!  Once we saw the flowers and trees in her backyard, we felt much more at home:

It was  a little overcast, so the vibrancy of the colors isn’t captured as well as it should have been---they were gorgeous!  And here is Miss Cassidy, sitting on Uncle Charlie’s lap, enjoying her pretzel:
